Based on the real-life story of journalist Anna Politkovskaya’s pioneering crusade for an independent voice in Russia. She gained widespread international renown for her criticisms of Vladimir Putin and stands asa pillar of press freedom. She was assassinated in 2006, which attracted widespread international attention and outrage. The film is a microcosm of a global epidemic in which a staggering number of journalists are silenced and murdered in the pursuit of uncovering and exposing the truth.
